I think foot pedal is not must. You can set up keys for playback. But, foot pedal allows to do the work smoothly and fast. It is a VRS platform, so once you copy and paste the text, the highlighting will go away. DocQscribe highlights the voice recognized words as you play the dictation. I heard that when you edit the word for a correct word, it keeps a track and improves the quality over time.
