You can't learn it at home. You should have at least 3-5 years of office exposure to start a home-based job. Mention your location here, so that others can let you know a good training cum absorption center.

Strange...you say you are 13+ years experienced and yet you want a training kit? You should be having everything needed for medical transcription work?
By the way, I am mystified. What exactly do you mean by training kit? I believe the general requirement for medical transcription like text expanders, voice file players, free medical spell checker etc. etc. are freely available on the internet. All you need to do is spend some time browsing. You could probably also get free medical transcription drug reference other than QuickLook/Stedman's too if you look around although what is available is not the latest version if at all available.

By 'Training kit' he might be implying how to make the hearing senses of his wife very, very acute. After all most of the dictators are terrible to say the least to say nothing about the environment in which they record their dictations. No need to browse for softwares, text expanders, spell checkers, and beginners medical transcription file as they have been made available at
4shared by a helpful and nice person for free. One only needs to become a free member to have access. Avoid all those providing home-based training gimmickry.
Best of Luck
